Columbine by Dave Cullen – I was in high school when the Columbine shooting occurred and i clearly remember the surreal feeling of watching it unfold on the news and then having to go to my own high school the next day. It was incredibly bizarre, i hadn’t seen that sort of thing happen in my lifetime, and of course now it’s staggeringly depressing how common it is. Well when Columbine happened, the news did their best to portray those fuckers in a very specific way- as trench coat wearing losers that were mercilessly bullied. It was several years later that i would read Dave Cullen’s book and realize just how inaccurate that portrayal was. The book is gripping and spares no detail. I remember reading it and thinking how crazy it was that myself and so many other people had the complete wrong picture about the situation. I would recommend this book to absolutely everyone. It’s more timely now than ever.
