About The Show

Barney Black and Tara Sariban discuss the dark details of lesser known true crime stories from Australia and around the world. As avid listeners of true crime podcasts they aim to add to the conversation by talking about murders that haven’t been done to death on other shows. Though the tone of their conversations are often humorous the cases they cover are gruesome as hell.

Tara Sariban

Tara was born Tarawonga Deidre Saraibanawanna inside a Volcano in an undiscovered part of the Borneo jungle. She was briefly worshipped by the pygmy natives before being exiled for swatting orangutans out of trees. Her first memory is of washing up on a beach in Northern NSW. Not much is known about her formative years but we do know she killed a cow by feeding it a plastic bucket. She graduated from RMIT’s Professional Screenwriting course but that was partially because the administrators were sick of her potty mouth and wanted her gone. Tara has written scripts for several animations and interactive media productions, and the Austereo Network. She’s especially proud of her Minecraft erotic fan fiction. Tara also has a background in performance, music video production, script editing and dog patting. Tara believes having spent time as a face painter in the murky underworld of children’s entertainment, she is almost over qualified to present True Crime. Tara lives under a bridge in Brunswick, Melbourne and guards it fiercely.

Barney Black

Born from an egg on mountain top, Barney (Born Barnaldo Danger Black) has no memory of his childhood and still believes he grew up in Fraggle Rock. He later trained as graphic artist and illustrator and has worked in the advertising industry for many years. He got his love for true crime when he solved his own murder whilst being a ghost. He then inexplicably came back to life and began a career in film, television, radio and interpretive dance – with mixed results. He was once described as “Community Minded” by a neighbour who doesn’t know him very well. Barney lives with his two children in a burnt out taco truck in an abandonded car yard in Brunswick, Melbourne. He likes Transformers and Lego, but hates windfarms and rainbows.
